It’s a rainy day in Anaheim. The first time its been like this since I’ve been here. I’m talking to this guy, and, because its cold, put my hands in my pockets. Inside my pocket, my left hand runs across that gum adhesive that you can peel off credit cards when they’re new. I think it might be the same gummy stuff that they add cologne to that makes my Maxim smell like Macy’s. I just got a new credit card, (its about time I started building some credit) so I guess I peeled the gum off and stuck it in my pocket so I could play with it later. I love playing with that stuff. You can roll it into a ball, pinch it so it kinda pops, run it through your fingers. Its just a weird texture that you don’t find many other places. So I’m rolling this stuff around subconsciously in my fingers, listening to what this guy has to say, and having a good time with it. I’m rolling this into a ball, twisting it around, (if you haven’t played with this stuff, you have to.. its really fun stuff.. one of life’s simple pleasures). In the middle of one of this guy’s sentences I realize that this isn’t as sticky a it should be. Its been in my pocket, and I’ve been fiddling with it for the past minute or so, so maybe all the sticky has worn off. It still seems a bit strange to me, so I pull it out, expecting to see the what would now be a dirty yellow and partially lint covered piece of credit card goop. I unroll it and look down to see that the whole time I had been squeezing a giant dead cricket.
My Birthday has come and gone. It was nice. I took a half day off work. Cheyanne gave me a good present. She left it on my desk in the morning before the went off to work. She later IMed me from work and told me to open it right then. I asked if I should wait for her to get home, and she insisted on me opening it before she got home. I was confused about that, but I opened it anyway. Inside was a “movie night” bundle packed with Laffy Taffy, popcorn, Bottlecaps (yum), and a dvd. The reason she wanted me to open it before I got home was because the movie was Saw 2, and she wanted to let me watch it, but didn’t want to watch it herself because she thought it would be scary. Very girly, but funny. So in my half day off I lounged around alone, ate candy and watched a movie that I really wanted to watch. It was a relaxing afternoon, and was actually a nice change from the usual day to day routine that I have gotten stuck into. So that was a sweet thoughtful gift.
My parents and sister then came down to see my new Fullerton dwellings, and spend the weekend with the Birthday boy. They figured that they could get me a gift down here, and I was dropping hints that I wanted a nice digital camera. One that acted like a standard camera, but output digital data. Not a simple point and shoot type camera where everything is automatic. I want to be able to attach separate lenses, manually focus, change aperture settings, etc.. So we went to Santa Monica and went shopping for one there. As it turns out we didn’t ever do any sort of camera hunting, but ended up getting my sister an iPod. I was a bit confused about how that worked out, but I’m happy for Julie, because I think she’ll really enjoy it, and I’ve been trying to get her to listen to a bunch of stuff that I think she would like. I dumped my whole music library on her iPod, (which was actually a ridiculously hard task, because she’s a Mac girl now, and I’m a PC guy, so figuring out how to get my files to her was a friggin’ pain). I’m curious to hear what she likes from it.
